Volleyball is an exciting sport that has become a big part of our Kuyper student life. Our program has been building steadily over the last 4 years.

In 2016 I was asked to fill the volleyball coach position at Kuyper. I was thrilled to step into the position along with my sister-in-law, Shannon Rohrer. At the time Kuyper was in a facility that had no gym, so they had always practiced on an outdoor court in the parking lot. The parking lot was sloped, so much of practice was spent chasing balls that rolled down the hill! In 2016, we ended up driving to Skyline Church for practice and were privileged to use their beautiful gym, but our practice time was very limited.In 2017 Kuyper relocated to the current campus. We were in a much bigger facility, but the gym couldn’t be used for practice because it was a church sanctuary. We practiced in the storage room with old, rusty poles, but we were thankful to be there and not have to make the drive every day to Skyline

In 2018 we moved the practice into the gym, but we still had a temporary net system that we set up and took down twice a week. This year we have moved fully into the gym, and the South Bay Community Church is relocated in a newly renovated room where we used to practice! The Lord provided for us to purchase two brand new volleyball net systems.

Several very generous parents donated their time and expertise to put permanent volleyball poles sleeves into the gym floor so that we will have two practice courts to use this year, and one game court for possible use in the future. It took many hours of planning and hard work, but we praise the Lord for His goodness in helping us finish this project. We appreciate the blessing of so many people to help.
